Hi team!
Today we are learning all about Syphilis. According to The Australian Department of Health and Aged Care, in 2020, notifications of infectious syphilis in Australia increased by nearly 90% from recorded rates in 2015. This was not classified as a common STI when I was growing up and I learnt SO much researching for this episode.
We learn all about what syphilis is, the 4 different stages of infection, how it is treated and how we can prevent sexually transmitted infections. I also tell everyone to get regularly tested 4000 times so... DO THAT!
**Trigger warning: there is mention of miscarriage and stillbirth in this episode. If you need help or support at anytime, contact Pregnancy, Birth and Baby on 1800 882 436.
